Each city is perfectly situated to identify economic development priorities and support services that give foreign entrepreneurs a good start in their journey to building successful businesses and growing the local economy in BC.

 Applicant criteria

- Lower costs of starting a business -settling in regional communities with smaller populations - the personal net worth and investment criteria is lower - must have a minimum of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 equivalent.

Cariboo, Mackenzie, Prince George, Quesnel, Williams Lake, Kootenay, Castlegar, Kimberley, Nelson, Rossland, Trail, Gibsons Sechelt, Squamish, Sunshine Coast Regional District, Nechako, Burns Lake, North Coast, Terrace, Northeast, Tumbler Ridge, Barriere, Merritt, Vernon, Comox, Courtenay, Port Alberni, Powell River

 Steps to apply

Preparation before you register: in order to apply to the EI – Regional Pilot, you must first determine your eligibility based on the category requirements. You may also wish to conduct a self-assessment. Then, you must identify a participating community listed on the BC PNP website.

 Timeline

The pilot will be delivered for a two-year period and will be evaluated to ensure that the community and entrepreneur are benefitting the program, and to ensure continued program integrity for the BC PNP.
